Cat® rubber track is designed to the specific requirements of your machine and the type of work you do. How quickly your track wears is impacted most by your maintenance practices. Plus, good maintenance also helps you know when it’s time for replacements, so your track doesn’t stop working unexpectedly. The tips below will take you a little time now but save you time and money later by making your track last longer.

INSPECT FOR ADVANCED WEAR

Do a walk around visual inspection looking for cracks on track or missing chunks. Pay particular attention to how much tread is left, so you can determine if you should plan for a replacement before your track fails.

CHECK TRACK TENSION

Loose track can cause poor traction, lug damage and even slip-off and cause unexpected downtime. Loose tracks can accelerate wear on the track as well as other undercarriage components.

CLEAN OUT DIRT & DEBRIS

Dirt and debris can pack in the track during operation. If left to build up, it can increase damage and accelerate track wear. We recommend a clean out at the end of every shift to extend track life.
